Part Time Courses
Here at the Royal Forest of Dean College we can offer you a wide range of part time courses and a chance to learn in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere and setting.
Following our recent Ofsted Inspection we can declare we are a good college with outstanding features. We have well qualified teachers, an excellent support system, great results and fantastic facilities.
So whether you choose a course leading to a qualification, are looking to enhance your job prospects, preparing to return to work after a break or choose one simply for fun and personal fulfilment, we have something for everyone. We have over 60 outreach centres around the Forest area so you can be sure to find something to suit you.
Qualification courses
The cost of your course will depend on the type of course and your age and circumstances. If you are under 19 on the 31st August 2009 there are no tuition fees (please note that some courses are not available to under 19s). If you are over 19 on the 31st August 2009, you may be eligible for fee reductions if you are:
- In receipt of Job Seekers Allowance, or a means tested benefit for example: income support, working tax credit or a housing/council tax benefit
- or a dependant of one of the above
- or taking a course in basic literacy, numeracy or English for Speakers of Other Languages
Evidence of benefit is required in all cases, to be shown at the time of enrolment. If your employer is paying your course fee and wishes to be invoiced, you must produce a letter confirming this before we can process your enrolment.
Financial Help
Certain groups of students are also able to get help with examination/registration fees, childcare costs, equipment, books and transport. If you are not sure if you qualify or would like further inormation, please contact our Adult Student Advisor on 01594 838435.

Adult Community Leisure Classes
AC Look out for this sign on course listings. Fees for courses are there to act as a guide. You may incur extra costs in certain classes, for example art, craft and other practical classes as well as language classes. Also included is a concessionary fee - you may be entitled to this fee concession if you are in receipt of one of the following:
- Working Tax Credit
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Pensions Guarantee Credit
- Council Tax Benefit
- Job Seekers Allowance
Evidence of benefit is required in all cases, to be shown at the time of enrolment.
Financial Help
This may be available for those in receipt of state benefits, attending non-examination courses. In addition, help may be awarded in special circumstances to those suffering financial hardship. To find out how to get help with childcare, travel, materials and resources please call 01594 545270.
50+
Courses advertised for the 50+ are there to act as a guide only. If you feel you would benefit from a gentle exercise class, you may be able to enrol on to one of these courses.Please contact enrolments for further details.

- At Learner Services at Five Acres, open every weekday 9.00am to 5.00pm (4.30pm on Fridays)

- At the first class subject to availability (ACL classes only)
